1978 Suzuki GS1000 GS1000E one owner mint condition Vehicle Description 1978 Suzuki GS1000 GS1000E one owner mint condition Vehicle Description This 1978 Suzuki GS1000 or GS1000E is the cleanest example I have seen in a very long time. In my opinion, this machine would make an exceptional rider or with very little work could be shown at club events or a bike concours event. A man named Carlos bought this bike new from what was then called Aurora Cycle 8/9/1978 here in the Seattle area. Thirty years later Carlos returned to the same building/business which is now Aurora Suzuki. He dealt with the same salesperson (although he is now the owner) from 1978 and traded his bike back in after 3 decades. This bike is mouthwateringly clean and close to 100% stock/original. The "Memo" section in the back of the owner's booklet is neatly filled in with all the owner's very detailed, handwritten notes as he documented his maintenance on the bike over the years and 21000 miles of riding. I cannot imagine a cleaner, better maintained or finer running example of an early GS1000 on the market today. Parked/stored indoors always, the bike has never been tipped over or damaged in any way. For most of the life of the bike, Carlos had a Shoei fairing and an aftermarket luggage rack/backrest installed. He also had engine guards installed. For the pictures I removed the fairing and luggage rack however they are included with the bike. The tops of the forks have aircaps and there is a throttle lock on the right hand grip. Also, there is some sort of alarm or anti-theft system tucked into the storage cubby hole behind the seat. I have not tried the "ON-OFF" switch on the unit so I have no idea if it works or is even still hooked up. I can say that it in no way seems to impact the operation of the bike. There are very few cosmetic flaws to report with this bike. The gauge cluster has small hole in the black plastic that one cannot see when the aftermarket fairing is installed. This hole is dead center between the 2 dials and behind the headlight. I believe a "Suzuki" logo is supposed to go there. There is the tiniest of flaws in the paint below the red pinstripe on the left side of the fuel tank. This is directly behind the fuel petcock and has actually been there since the bike was new. This paint flaw is noted on the "Certificate of Pre-Delivery" document that the owner received from the selling dealer when he took delivery in 1978. The rest of the bike has a very lightly used and almost new appearance in many areas. The original hand grips show almost no wear, for example. The pipes have no scratches, rust or discolored chrome. The bike has absolutely no crash or tipover damage nor does it show any signs of ever being repaired. The paint is original and in stunning condition. In short, I expect zero disappointments from whoever buys this bike from me. Mechanically there is not much to say. The bike starts, runs and operates exactly as one would expect it to. No oil leaks, no smoking, smooth shifting, braking, clutch engagement, etc. If anyone cares to know the engine serial # is GS1000-116796. As far as what this bike is like to ride, well, whenever I have a large displacement Suzuki streetbike of this vintage I always wonder how the other 3 members of the "Big 4" club sold any bikes. Included with the bike is everything you see in the pictures, the fairing, backrest, etc. The original owner's manual with service history documentation, 2 factory keys, a period "Suzuki" key fob, the original "Suzuki Certification of Vehicle Pre-Delivery" and the original ownership certificate or title from 1978. Also included is the sales receipt from 1978. Included but not pictured is the original chrome grab rail, the plastic trim piece that covers the lower triple clamp, a factory Suzuki service/repair manual, a Factory Suzuki valve adjust tool and an aftermarket Martek electronic ignition kit. Washington state buyers will be charged sales tax on the final sales price and a licensing/title transfer fee of $50. The licensing fee could be higher if the license tabs need renewing and you wish for Red Label Moto to purchase them for you. Non-Washington residents will pay the final sales price plus a $50 fee for a vehicle trip permit only. No sales tax or other licensing fees will be collected from non-Washington state residents. Non-residents must provide a copy of their non-Washington identification, a copy of some sort of utility bill that verifies an address outside of Washinton state and they must sign a declaration stating they do not reside in Washington state. Red Label Moto is a licensed, bonded and insured motorcycle dealer in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood. I can and will cooperate with any pre-purchase inspection and customers are welcome to view the bike for sale in my showroom. I am happy to arrange shipping at the buyer's request or work with your shipper. Delivery to anywhere in the Seattle metropolitan area is free. Email any questions or call 206-325-7233. Thanks very much for looking.
