This classic RD is in very good condition while exhibiting the patina of a thirty-three year old motorcycle. A second owner bike since 1985. There is no obvious rust although the usual occurrence of places of chrome pitting is evident. Some discoloration of the clearcoat on the fuel tank can be seen in the photos and the decals on the sidecovers have shrunk over the years. The bike took a low speed spill at one time and as a result the headlight ears were bent as can be seen in the photos. Parts that have been repainted include the clutch/oil pump cover, points cover, cylinders and heads. The alloy on these parts was polished prior to refinishing and then masked. The fork sliders were stripped of clearcoat and polished and are fitted with new dust boots. The fork tubes are replacements supplied by Frank's Maintenance and Engineering, Inc. (Forking By Frank). The cylinders are the original bore size and are now beginning to exhibit the first signs of excess clearance. New battery, K&N airfilter, carb Y-boot, Allen engine case screws, rubber grips and shifter rubber. Also, new tires, countershaft sprocket, rear sprocket and chain; all with fewer than 200 miles on them. The speedometer was disassembled and recalibrated to be *dead balls accurate* (an industry term) at 50MPH and was reset to 0 miles during it's rebuild. During preparation the entire front brake system, to include the caliper and the master cylinder, was completely disassembled, cleaned up and inspected. The brake works great. The headlight, taillight, brake light and turn signals all are operational. The ignition is the standard points ignition but with the addition of automotive coils relocated to under the right sidecover. The engine's Autolube oil injection system has always used Yamalube 2-S injector oil. The carbs are original and are jetted as delivered with all standard jet sizes and settings. The bike is timed to 1.85mm BTDC and runs NGK B7HS plugs gapped to .036in. There is no pinging or overheating and it doesn't foul plugs - ever.
The buyer assumes responsibility for the collection and shipment of the motorcycle.
If necessary, I will assist with the delivery to a carrier within 25 miles.
