Yamaha Virago 1100 Gold Edition 1987
Vehicle Description
The bike for sale is a 1987 1100 XV Yamaha Virago Special Gold Edition. It has the gold trim all around the bike and on the rims. I bought the bike to fix up and ride this summer. It runs great. I only put 200 miles on it riding around town. Just didnt have the time to ride more but enjoyed it. I bought a Harley basket case for the winter project, so the wife says it must go. It has a brand new tire on the front and a one year tire on back with about 400 miles on it. The bike is in very good shape for its age, with only minor issues for appearance. The gas tank has two big dents in it that could be popped out with paintless dent repair. The paint would need touched up on both sides in small places on the tank. Or a tank that matched it just sold here for $75. The seat is great with no tears. It is missing the left side cover. One fuel line was fixed by brazing by someone before me, but works ok, though I still bought a set of fuel lines for it and havent installed them, but do go with bike. I replaced the front fender with a matching one. I also replaced the headlight assembly and front forks. The original forks were air ride and still worked, but one was bent. It has a windshield with good visibility, but has one rock chip in it in the lower right below handle bar. A set of bags do go with the bike, I took them off cause I didnt like the look. The only thing the bike does need is a new battery. The one in it is two years old and doesnt hold a charge over 48 hours. I tried a new acid pack. After charging, bike starts right up.

Hope your having a good weekend. It was good biking weather here. I put another 20 miles on the bike, and she ran sweet! I added a picture so you can see better how the bike would look with the tank fixed and how clean the engine was. The chrome is very good, as per an email answer, with no rust issues. The only issue of chrome is the top of the muffles where something, probably battery acid, spilled on it, which can be seen in the new pic. The muffles work well and are NOT rusty, with the bottom and side chrome of them ok. They might clean up. I have extra pictures, just ask for an area and I will send them. The gold paint on the rims is very good and look really nice since I just washed them off today. The bike needs a good cleaning and polishing. The gold chrome is ok for 21 yr old chrome, with the engine chrome the nicest. The top of the shocks and turn signals have the most discoloring of the gold trim, due to the saddle bags. I have pics of the front and rear rims to how good they look. The front brake discs are not grooved. The engine is very clean. My guess on the color of the bike is a dark candy apple red with metal flake. It shows purple in some pics, so I dont want someone to think that it is purple and be dissatisfied when picked up. The paint is good for a 21 yr old bike, with maybe one chip on the rear fender and one the front fender, which is why I was going to try and save the tank. Please remember the bike is 21 yrs old used bike, therefore it is sold as is. I have tried to describe it as accurate as I could. Please ask all questions before the end of the auction.
